MARC KITAEN'S ARTIST BIO

Marc Kitaen has worked in different art media for over (23) twenty three years. From photography, illustrations, acrylic paintings, 3D mixed media sculptural reliefs, freelance graphic designer, digital photographic composite artist, and my current focus and business of mixing both special effects photography (chroma key/blue & green screen), and my digital composite artwork imagery.

Self taught with my artistic skills, from early childhood till the present. I was oil painting at age (5) five, also writing long stories of a boy and his dolphin friend, before the TV series "Flipper" was televised. It was (14) fourteen years ago when I realized the computer could enhance my life and others, raising my artwork and ideas to new levels of expression. This is where I truly excel and fulfill my artistic vision. If you can dream it, the computer can conceive it and complement you.

Prior to my new found creative outlet with computers, my former artwork media working in 3D sculptural releifs, played a big role in the way I apply myself as an artist today.

For (10) ten years I worked in mixed media, creating mostly artistic dioramic wall decorations. My themes ranged from: Native American art, wildlife, ocean scenes, landscape scenery and other conceptual designs.

Functionality was also built into their design compositions, using mirrors, lighting and shelving. It was a total hands on art form, each project was a one of a kind, very labor intense. Working with table saws, scroll saws, routers, sanding, hand painting and staining, and applying sand mixtures and other materials to the projects.

My work involved inlayed marquetry, layering of hardwood veneered woods, and other hand crafted techniques, creating a 3 Dimensional art scene or design. Materials used in their construction included: sand mixture textures, mirrors, metals, hardwood veneers, acrylic paints, colored oil based stains and other enhancing materials. I made and sold over five hundred 3D sculptural reliefs, that were mainly client driven commissions.

It is not finishing a new artwork design that gives me true pleasure or reward, it is the journey I am on during every project, and what I can learn from that alchemy process. Being very driven or passionate and detailed oriented, and applying those traits into my artwork and commissioned  projects, has it's rewards in my fulfillment as an artist, and the products and services I offer to my clients.

My photography, digital photographic composite art, and 3D sculptural reliefs artwork has exhibited in international gallery shows, local museums, several one man shows, 1st place ribbons at county fairs, published, and the TV Artist Channel interviewed and televised my sculptural relief artwork. I work out of a special effects photography studio (specializing in Chroma key portraits) called "Green Screen Wizard Studios", in San Diego, CA.
